We're partnering with UNGRIPP to create community painting events to support the plight of IPP prisoners leading to an installation that politicians cannot ignore. Through our Woodhill work, we've seen how creating space for families to share their stories through art inspires empathy and action in ways traditional campaigning sometimes cannot.
IPP (Imprisonment for Public Protection) is an abolished sentence that still traps 2,486 people without release dates. Despite being scrapped almost 13 years ago, this sentence continues to devastate lives, with the UN calling it a form of psychological torture.
At the heart of our campaign is a powerful symbol: 2,486 painted pebbles. Each one represents a person still serving this abolished sentence - white for those imprisoned, red for those who've died.
We launched at the Labour Party Conference on Monday 29 September, and more painting events are coming.
